A full day tour to the scenic countryside, a showcase of history, culture and nature in one destination- Bohol. Visit the historic spot where the Spanish and the Filipinos fostered friendly relations through blood at the Blood Compact Shrine. The Blood Compact site is considered as the First Treaty of Friendship between the peoples of different races ,religions, culture and civilization and an event commonly known as "Sandugo" is done yearly to commemorate the treaty. View the architecture of the centuries old churches in Baclayon. The Baclayon church is the oldest Catholic stone church with a small museum displaying centuries old relics, a host of books and hymnals. Drive through the lush mahogany man-made forest called "Bilar Man-Made Forest", stretching up to two kilometers. Bilar man-made forest was a reforestation project that was created in response to the alarming deforestation in the Loboc watershed caused by the destructive slash and burn farming system called "kaingin" done by the locals who sought refuge in the forested area during World War II. Feast your eyes on the breathtaking work of nature, the 1,268 haycock hills, considered one of the wonders of the world called the "Chocolate Hills." Legend has it that the hills came into existence when two giants threw stones and sand at each other in a fight that lasted for days. When they were exhausted, they became friends and left the island leaving behind the mess they made. Up to this day, even geologists have not reached a consensus on how they were formed. The most commonly accepted theory is that they are the weathered formations of a certain kind of marine limestone on top of a impermeable layer of clay. Cap the tour with a relaxing cruise in the nipa palm-lined Loboc River while enjoying a buffet lunch on board a native catamaran. A must visit activity to experience is the Loboc River Cruise. Its a very popular destination because more than its floating restaurants and their food, one will be treated with the magnificent and breathtaking view of the Loboc River and its surroundings. The very clean river is complimented with green landscapes and tall coconut trees against a backdrop of a forest. |
